OCEANSIDE ---- The North County chapter of the NAACP held its 21st annual Juneteenth celebration and multicultural street fair Saturday at Oceanside Municipal Pier.

'We want to let the community know that we are here trying to help in terms of jobs, health and letting people know that we're here to serve,' said event organizer Satia Austin, a participant in Oceanside's Juneteenth for 10 years.
Juneteenth commemorates the day on or about June 19, 1865, that Texas slaves learned of their emancipation, but the event is also about cultural diversity."
